Protecting Constitutional Rights:

Defend the Constitution. Preserve Our Liberties.

"I took an oath to defend the Constitution—and that oath doesn’t expire. Rights don’t disappear when they become politically inconvenient. I will stand guard over liberty in Springfield, just like I did in uniform."

— Joshua T. Atkinson

The rights granted to us by the Constitution aren’t negotiable. They don’t belong to one political party—they belong to every American. In Springfield, too many politicians use the Constitution as a talking point while passing laws that chip away at our freedoms.

Joshua T. Atkinson believes in the rule of law, limited government, and personal liberty. As a U.S. Navy veteran, he swore an oath to uphold the Constitution—and he’s never stopped honoring that commitment.

The Problem: Rights Eroded by Political Convenience

  • Gun rights come under attack while crime surges

  • Free speech is chilled by bureaucracy and political intimidation

  • Property rights are ignored for insider deals and government land grabs

  • Religious liberty is undermined by state mandates

  • Privacy rights and data freedoms are sacrificed for power and control

Too often, the Constitution becomes a political football instead of the foundation of our Republic.

Atkinson’s Plan: Stand Firm. Speak Up. Push Back.

1. Defend the 2nd Amendment

Josh will oppose any legislation that infringes on the rights of law-abiding gun owners and support concealed carry reciprocity, lawful self-defense, and firearm education. At the same time, he believes in commonsense legislation that promotes safety without infringing on liberty—such as smart licensing standards and basic insurance requirements that encourage accountability and responsible gun ownership.

2. Protect Free Speech and Expression

He’ll reject attempts to censor political opinions, silence parents, or pressure small businesses into compliance with state agendas.

3. Safeguard Religious Freedom

Josh will protect the right of every Illinoisan to worship—or not—without government interference. That means respecting faith-based schools, institutions, and health providers.

4. Preserve Property and Privacy Rights

He will oppose eminent domain abuse, unauthorized surveillance, and tech regulations that threaten civil liberties.

5. Promote Constitutional Education

Atkinson believes young people must understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens. He’ll promote civic education in public schools that teaches the Constitution, not just political slogans.

A Veteran Who Still Upholds His Oath

"I took an oath to defend the Constitution—and that oath doesn’t expire.

Rights don’t disappear when they become politically inconvenient.

I will stand guard over liberty in Springfield, just like I did in uniform."

— Joshua T. Atkinson

The Constitution Is Not a Suggestion

Our freedoms are too important to be left in the hands of a career politician who bends with the wind. Joshua T. Atkinson will bring courage, clarity, and conviction to the Illinois Senate.

Let’s fire the double-speaker and elect a senator who will always put the Constitution first.
